Chert, shale, phosphorite, and carbonates; Permian restricted marine epicontinental-basin deposits; southeastern Idaho

Permian phosphatic sandstone, mudstone and chert of east-central Idaho.
StateIdaho
NameChert, shale, phosphorite, and carbonates; Permian restricted marine epicontinental-basin deposits; southeastern Idaho
Geologic agePermian
Original map labelP; Ps; DSc
CommentsThe Phosphoria and Park City Formations are intertonguing equivalents, and are phosphatic in-part. They were deposited in a semi-restricted marine basin, on the Permian western margin of the North American Craton, at a Permian latitude of 5 to 20 degrees N (Piper, 2001).The Shedhorn Sandstone intertongues with the Phosphoria and Park City Fms in east-central Idaho, north of the Snake River Plain.
