Mica schist, quartzite, and calc-silcicate rock; Proterozoic high-grade metasedimentary rocks; trans-Idaho metamorphic province

Precambrian high-grade metamorphic rock; metasediment; kyanite-sillimanite calc-silicate schist and gneiss, scapolite common
StateIdaho
NameMica schist, quartzite, and calc-silcicate rock; Proterozoic high-grade metasedimentary rocks; trans-Idaho metamorphic province
Geologic ageProterozoic
Original map labelPC3; PC
CommentsZXmhc includes high-grade metasedimentary rocks, alternatively mapped as Precambrian calc-silicate-bearing high-grade metamorphic rocks (PC3 of ID001), meta-Wallace (ID110, 133), or Syringa metamorphic series (ID185). Detrital zircons from various Syringa-series samples indicate Belt-age, pre-Belt, and post-Belt components (Reed S. Lewis, oral commun., 2004). Syringa lithologies include mica schist (+/- sillimanite +/- kyanite, +/- garnet), coarsely recrystallized quartzite, diopside quartzite, and hornblende gneiss (+/- garnet and epidote).
Primary rock typemica schist
Secondary rock typequartzite
Other rock typescalc-silicate rock
