CommentsBlue Ridge Basement Complex, Middle Proterozoic (Grenville-Age) Plutonic Rocks. From expanded explanation (ref. VA002): Leucocharnockite. Leucocratic, coarse-grained to megacrystic pyroxene-bearing granite, porphyritic in part with euhedral potassium feldspar phenocrysts, interstitial plagioclase and quartz; ferromagnesian minerals include orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene, magnetite-ilmenite; hornblende, red-brown biotite, and garnet may be present. Accessory minerals include zircon, monozite, and apatite. Pyroxene is thoroughly uralitized.
