Geologic setting

Geologic description

Mineralization occurs in dark green to black andesite(?) containing minor amounts of sulfide minerals. Locally, volcanic rocks are brecciated, silica-cemented and contain druzy quartz. Minor quartz stringers locally cut volcanic rocks. Exposure is is a quarry located on the contact between volcanic rocks and fine- to medium-grained hornblende granodiorite porphyry.
Geologic map unit (-176.635770244164, 51.8444216399099)
Age of mineralization Tertiary.
Alteration of deposit Introduction of silica (silicification), possibly associated with emplacement of granodiorite. Possible regional scale low-grade metamorphism.
