Location and accuracy | The occurrence is located on the steep slopes of an east-west trending stream which drains into Humpy Cove; it is in the SW1/4 of section 22, T. 2 S., R. 1 E., of the Seward Meridian. Humpy Cove is about 11 miles southeast of Seward, Alaska. This is Cobb's (1972, MF-440) location 1 and Tysdal's (1978) location 105. This location is accurate to within a quarter of a mile. |
Geologic descriptionThe prospect consists of a shear zone in a sheeted basalt dike unit of the Upper Cretaceous Valdez Group. The shear zone was reported to contain chalcopyrite (Cobb and Tysdal , 1980). | |
