Location and accuracy There is little information about placer mining along Canyon Creek but Kurtak and others (2002) reported mining in 2000 'near the narrows'. That feature is probably about 1.3 miles upstream from the mouth of Canyon Creek where the creek cuts through a low ridge. This location is about 0.5 mile north of the center of section 17, 32 N. R. 7 W.
