Location and accuracy | This occurrence is at an elevation of about 300 feet on the north bank of upper Sheep Creek. It is in the SE1/4 sec. 17, T. 15 S., R. 4 E., of the Copper River Meridian. Location of the site is accurate to within 1000 ft. Site is location C-4 in Jansons and others (1984). |
Geologic descriptionSite is described as an outcrop of Tertiary Orca Group slate (Nelson and others, 1985) stained with malachite. One 6-inch-wide shear zone contains chalcopyrite. Analysis of one grab sample indicated 0.51% Cu (Jansons and others, 1984). | |
