Geologic setting

Geologic description

This occurrence is a stratiform, black shale- and chert-hosted, synsedimentary, massive sulfide deposit in Mississippian to Permian strata (J. Britton, oral communication, 1998). Fifteen holes were drilled in the early 1980s. The drilling intercepted a complex, mineralized horizon grading less than 5 percent Zn and Pb over variable thicknesses, generally less than 20 feet. One mineralized intercept of more than 200 feet contained several intervals grading more than 10 percent combined lead and zinc. Another intercept graded more than 30 percent combined lead and zinc.
