Location and accuracy | This record represents two little-known occurrences in the North Fork of Canyon Creek. Thornsberry, McKee, and Salisbury (1984, pl. K-8, number 104) report one occurrence at an elevation of about 3000 feet on the north side of the North Fork of Canyon Creek. It is about three-quarters of a mile above the confluence of the North Fork with Canyon Creek, and is the location of the coordinates for this record. The other occurrence is also in the canyon of the North Fork, about a mile above the confluence. It is in the bottom of the canyon on the south side of the North Fork, and corresponds to number 65 of Hawley and Associates (1978). |
Geologic descriptionThe country rocks on lower North Fork of Canyon Creek are mainly Birch Creek Schist (Bundtzen, 1981). There is no public information describing the geology of either of these occurrences. The data sheet for occurrence 104 of Thornsberry, McKee, and Salisbury, 1984, v. 2) is missing, and there are no assay data for mineral deposit 65 of Hawley and Associates (1978, fig. and table 4.1-A(2)). | |
