Location and accuracy | This occurrence is at an elevation of about 2,900 feet, on the western end of the Reindeer Hills. The map site is in the NE1/4 of sec. 34, T. 17 S., R. 7 W., of the Fairbanks Meridian. The location is accurate to within 1500 feet. This is location 11 of Clark and Cobb (1972). |
Geologic descriptionThe country rocks in the area of this occurrence include Lower Cretaceous to Upper Jurassic, monotonous, intensely deformed and locally highly metamorphosed, turbidites, and Oligocene granitic and other felsic intrusive rocks that cut the strata. The deposit consists of chalcopyrite and molybdenite in the Oligocene intrusive rocks (Berg and Cobb, 1967). | |
