Location and accuracy | The site is located at an elevation of approximately 4,500 feet, 0.5 mile northeast of VABM 5896 (Way). The site is in the SE1/4 of sec. 6, T. 22 S., R. 1 E., of the Fairbanks Meridian. The location is accurate to within 1000 feet. This is location 40 of Clark and Cobb (1972). |
Geologic descriptionThis occurrence is close to a thrust separating a slice of Lower Permian? and Pennsylvanian andesitic volcanic rocks from Middle Triassic to Upper Pennsylvanian metasedimentary rocks. Numerous large diabasic and gabbroic dikes and sills occur throughout the area (Wilson and others, 1998). The occurrence consists of pyrite and chalcopyrite disseminated in the volcanic rocks, and of secondary malachite. | |
