Location and accuracy | This occurrence is at an elevation of about 600 feet on a small knoll, 0.1 mile due west of the southwest corner of Hassler Lake. The site is in sections 18, 19, T. 77 S., R. 93 E., of the Copper River Meridian. It corresponds to loc. 17 in Karl (1992). The location is accurate within 0.1 mile. |
Geologic descriptionThe country rock in the area of this site is Silurian trondhjemite that locally is sheared and sericitized, probably owing to Upper Cretaceous, greenschist-grade regional metamorphism (Berg, 1972 [I 684]). The occurrence consists of sparse base-metal sulfide mineralization in the trondhjemite, and is based on a sample of trondhjemite containing Cu-Pb-Zn sulfide minerals collected by a road construction crew in 1990 (Karl, 1992, loc. 17). | |
