|Location and accuracy||This placer occurrence is on Gunn Creek, about 1.2 miles north-northeast of Oxbow Lake. It is at an elevation of approximately 3,200 feet in the SE1/4SW1/4 of section 20, T. 20 S., R. 12 E., Fairbanks Meridian.|
Geologic descriptionA pan-concentrate sample of stream gravels at this site contained chromite, gold, ilmenite, magnetite, olivine, scheelite, sphalerite, and zircon (Rose and Saunders, 1965, p. 15). The source of some of these minerals may be glacial till and possibly granite that has been reported in this vicinity (Rose and Saunders, 1965).
