Geologic descriptionNative copper and malachite and azurite stains are present at two localities in basalt that is locally amygdaloidal. Azurite and malachite is present in breccia zone in Devonian or older dolomite overlying the basalt. These dolomite unit is likely part of the Katakturuk Dolomite which depositionally overlies the basalt in which the copper is present. The Katakturuk Dolomite is considered Proterozoic in age and hence the basalt also likely is Proterozoic in age. | |
