Location and accuracy | The approximate location of this occurrence, informally called VABM Eddy Gossan, is at an elevation of 2600 feet, 0.75 mile south of VABM Eddy. For this record, the site is plotted in the SW1/4 sec. 29, T. 14 S., R. 6 E., Kateel River Meridian. The location is accurate within 2 miles. |
Geologic descriptionThis occurrence consists of a large gossan of iron-stained quartz-muscovite-chlorite schist. Limonite is present as stringers and disseminations along foliation. Rock samples collected in 1980 contain weakly anomalous values of up to 600 ppm copper and 80 ppb gold (Flanigan, 1998). Flanigan interprets this gossan to be related to magmatic fluids from the Khotol pluton, based on its proximity to the Khotol pluton and to its low molybdenum content. The Khotol pluton has been dated at approximately 110 Ma by K/Ar and Ar/Ar methods (Flanigan, 1998). Also see NL013-016 and NL019-022. | |
