Location and accuracy | This prospect is on Towers Creek at an elevation of about 170 feet, about about 1.5 miles from the head of Towers Arm. It is near the center of section 11, T. 58 S., R. 76 E. |
Geologic descriptionStill and others (2002) sampled this prospect which consists of an outcrop/boulder in Towers Creek of iron-stained, calcareous, silicified schist with disseminated and narrow bands of pyrite with sparse chalcopyrite. The country rock is Devonian schist near the contact with Triassic argillite of the Hyd Group (Karl and others, 1999). Six samples across the schist and the sulfide bands contained 175 to 713 ppm copper. This prospect was one of the discoveries by Amoco Minerals in 1978 and 1979. This work included airborne and ground geophysics, geologic mapping, soil and stream geochemical samples, and core drilling on a large block of claims covering the Tower Creek prospect. | |
