|Location and accuracy||The map site of this occurrence is located on the Alaska Peninsula near the east shore of Albatross Anchorage at the head of Balboa Bay (Berg and Cobb,1967, locality 5; Cobb, 1972 [MF 433], locality 2; MacKevett and Holloway, 1977, locality 2; Wilson and others, 1988, locality 2). The site is at an elevation of about 250 feet, in the W1/2 of sec. 14, T. 51 S., R. 74 W., of the Seward Meridian. The location is accurate to within 2,500 feet.|
Geologic descriptionAt this occurrence chalcopyrite, galena, pyrite, and sphalerite occur in a shear zone (Atwood, 1909) cutting Miocene andesite (Wilson and others, 1995). Atwood mentions several prospects and one short adit, all abandoned at the time of his visit.
