Location and accuracy | The Eagle Group prospect is at an elevation of about 100 feet, about 0.4 mile north-northwest of Pt. Lydonia at the mouth of Black Bay. The prospect is about at the midpoint of the south boundary of sec. 10, T. 48 S., R. 57 E. It is location P-58 of Bittenbender and others (1999) and MAS no. 0021140116 (U.S. Bureau of Land Management, 2002). The location is accurate within 0.5 mile. |
Geologic descriptionJohnson and Karl (1985) map the rocks in the area of this prospect as Cretaceous melange. The rocks are cut by northwest-striking, high-angle faults; these include the extension of the fault at the Hirst Mine (SI087) which controls the mineralization there. Its trace is about a mile southwest of this prospect. Bittenbender and others (1999) report that 4 claims were staked in 1935, but the commodity is unknown. There is no record of activity since the original staking. | |
