Location and accuracy | The occurrence is located near tidewater about a mile mile west of Chase island on the north shore of Drier Bay. It is in the NE1/4 section 25, T. 3 N., R. 9 E., of the Seward Meridian. This is location 224 of Cobb and Tysdal (1980) and location S-51 of Jansons and others (1984). This location is accurate to within a quarter of a mile. |
Geologic descriptionThe occurrence consists of several 3-foot-wide intensely fractured and brecciated shear zones cutting greenstone of the Orca Group of early Tertiary age (Nelson and others, 1985). The deposit consists of quartz-epidote veins containing pyrrhotite. Samples collected from the site contained from 8 to 61 ppm copper and from 30 to 84 ppm zinc (Kurtak and Jeske, 1986). | |
