|Location and accuracy||The occurrence is located in the NE1/4 section 14, T. 2 S., R. 1 E., of the Seward Meridian. It is located approximately 0.6 mile west of Talus Bay on the north shore of Day Harbor at an elevation of 1,500 feet. This is location 104 of Tysdal (1978 [MF-880-A]) and location S-186 of Jansons and others (1984). This location is accurate to a quarter of a mile.|
Geologic descriptionThe occurrence is described as disseminated chromite near the contact of a gabbro and a sheeted dike complex. The complex belongs to the Resurrection Bay Ophiolite sequence, which is Late Cretaceous in age (Nelson and others, 1985). A single sample contained 1,000 ppm chromium (Tysdal, 1978 [MF-880A-]). No other information available in the literature.
