Geologic setting

Geologic description

This occurrence consists of bornite, covellite, and chalcopyrite in garnet-epidote-quartz skarn and hornfels (Kurtak and others, 1992). The skarn grades into marble that is part of a sequence of Triassic metabasalt, argillite, metachert, and marble (Csejtey and others, 1978). Selected samples of the mineralized skarn contain 3.5 parts per million silver, 0.2 parts per million gold, and up to 0.26 percent copper (Balen, 1990). As of January 1, 2000, a block of approximately 96 state mining claims covered this and adjacent prospects (Northern Associates Inc., written communication, 2001).
Geologic map unit (-147.832950955314, 62.9647449292332)
Mineral deposit model Copper skarn (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 18b)
Mineral deposit model number 18b
Alteration of deposit Silicification and development of garnet-epidote skarn.

Production and reserves
