Location and accuracy | This occurrence is at an elevation of about 3,000 feet on a hillside northeast of Sheep Creek. It is 5 miles west of Rainbow Lake and 1.9 miles southwest of VABM Iron. The location is accurate to within 1/2 mile. |
Geologic descriptionThis occurrence consists of dark red to yellow, pyrite-bearing gossan in Paleozoic(?) mafic metavolcanic rocks. No ore minerals other than pyrite are visible (Csejtey and Miller, 1978). Rock samples contain up to 7,000 parts per million copper, 2,000 parts per million arsenic, 700 parts per million cobalt, 700 parts per million nickel, and 3 parts per million silver (Miller and others, 1978). | |
