Location and accuracy This prospect is at an elevation of about 3,600 feet, near the head of a unnamed creek draining the southern flank of Wells Mountain. It is in the NE1/4NW1/4 sec. 21, T. 27 N., R. 2 E., Seward Meridian. The location is accurate to within 1/4 mile. This is locality 84 of Csejtey and Miller (1978).

Geologic setting

Geologic description

This prospect consists of a 24-inch-thick quartz vein that cuts mafic metavolcanic rock; the vein contains chalcopyrite, pyrite, and malachite (Csejtey and Miller, 1978). U.S. Geological Survey samples of the vein contain up to 1.5 parts per million gold, 15,000 parts per million copper, and 3 parts per million silver (Miller and others, 1978).
