Location and accuracy | This placer occurrence is on a west tributary of Kosina Creek, at an elevation of about 3,650 feet,. It is near the center of sec. 16, T. 27 N., R. 7 E., Seward Meridian. The location is accurate to within 1/2 mile. |
Geologic descriptionThe stream drains an area underlain by plutonic and metamorphic rocks, including banded gneiss (Kurtak and others, 1992). Placer samples collected by the U.S. Bureau of Mines contained up to 24 parts per billion palladium and 100 parts per million arsenic (Balen, 1990). A sample of intrusive rock contains 813 parts per million copper. | |
