Natural gas resources

Stocks of naturally formed hydrocarbon gases which are usually associated with petroleum fields. Useful for heating, they are principally methane, but can be ethane, butane, or propane.
This category is also used for petroleum resources (gas).

These data generalize the detailed LR2000 information and related boundaries (for example, small mine claim boundaries) to a larger Public Land Survey System (PLSS) section boundary in order to assist in the analysis of locatable, leasable, and salable minerals for mineral-resource assessment. Data are provided in shapefile format.
