Information leading to the delineation of this focus area

Basis for focus area Prospectivity mapping analysis ( Karl and others, 2021).
Identified resources Identified resources and historical production of gold.
Production Current production at Kensington and Greens Creek.
Status Past and currently active mining, current exploration.
Estimated resources Kensington mine: current resource (inclusive of reserves) of 5,977,000 tons grading 0.232 oz/t Au for 1,384,000 oz Au; Herbert Gold deposit: Indicated and Inferred resource of 1,686,534 tons grading 0.202 oz/t Au for 340,100 oz Au.
Geologic maps No modern mapping better than 1:250,000 scale.
Geophysical data Inadequate aeromagnetic and aeroradiometric coverage.
Favorable rocks and structures Greenschist to amphibolite facies metamorphic rocks, orogenic collapse.
Deposits Kensington, Greens Creek.
Evidence from mineral occurrences Hundreds of ARDF occurrences consistent with intrusion-related and orogenic gold systems.
Geochemical evidence HUC's are moderately to highly anomalous in W, As, Sb, and Se in streambed sediments and rock chip samples.
Geophysical evidence No data.
Evidence from other sources Prospectivity analyses conducted by Karl and others (2021) show large areas of this region containing HUC's with medium to high prospectivity with medium to high certainty.
Cover thickness and description No cover to unknown cover depths.
Authors Douglas C. Kreiner, James V. Jones III, Melanie B. Werdon.
New data needs New mapping, geophysics, updated geochemical sampling.
Geologic mapping and modeling needs Mapping at 1:100,000 scale or better.
Geophysical survey and modeling needs Aeromagnetics and radiometrics collected at Rank 2.
Digital elevation data needs IfSAR coverage is complete over entire focus area.
