Information leading to the delineation of this focus area

Basis for focus area Mining districts and mineral occurrences.
Identified resources Historical production of gold, silver, and tungsten.
Production Unknown.
Status Past mining.
Estimated resources Unknown.
Geologic maps Lund and others (1990), scale 1:250,000; Mitchell and Bennett (1979b), scale 1:250,000.
Geophysical data Inadequate aeromagnetic and aeroradiometric coverage.
Favorable rocks and structures Mineralized veins cutting the Idaho batholith and older metamorphic and plutonic rocks. Veins are generally close to the contact between granitic rocks and gneiss and schist.
Deposits Tungstar mine (MRDS dep_id: 10011568; USMIN Site_ID: CA00021), Little Giant mine (MRDS dep_id: 10071544), Marygold #1-#8 (MRDS dep_id: 10011567), Charity mine (MRDS dep_id: 10105743), Golden Anchor mine (MRDS dep_id: 10105738), Petsite mine (MRDS dep_id: 10071637).
Evidence from mineral occurrences MRDS; USMIN.
Geochemical evidence Unknown.
Geophysical evidence None.
Evidence from other sources Unknown.
Comments Mainly a gold district, both lode gold and placer.
Cover thickness and description Exposed at the surface.
Authors Virginia S. Gillerman, Reed S. Lewis, Christopher A. Tate.
New data needs Geologic mapping, geophysics, lidar.
Geologic mapping and modeling needs Partial mapping of one 1:24,000 scale quadrangle and reconnaissance mapping of 2.5 1:24:000 scale quadrangles to verify previous (intermediate scale) mapping.
Geophysical survey and modeling needs High resolution aeromagnetic and aeroradiometric survey. Gravity may be helpful, good road access for a state-led field survey.
Digital elevation data needs Lidar in progress only over southern portion of focus area; incomplete elsewhere.
