Information leading to the delineation of this focus area

Basis for focus area Mining district outlines from McLemore (2017).
Identified resources Historical production of fluorite and tungsten.
Production Historical production of 4,150 lbs of 1% WO3; fluorite production was 3.230 tons (McLemore and others, 1996).
Status Past mining.
Estimated resources None.
Geologic maps Hedlund (1978c, d, e, f), scale 1:24,000.
Geophysical data Inadequate aeromagnetic and aeroradiometric coverage.
Favorable rocks and structures Fluorspar stringers and veins with gold filling faults and fissures in Proterozoic granite. Scheelite and wolframite occur scattered throughout narrow quartz veins in several deposits.
Deposits Fluorite: Grandview Fluorspar prospect (MRDS dep_id: 10013502), American Fluorspar deposits (MRDS dep_id: 10009964), Continental Fluorspar prospect (MRDS dep_id: 10010045); Tungsten: Hillside claims (MRDS dep_id: 10010036), Alpha mine (MRDS dep_id: 10010035).
Evidence from mineral occurrences MRDS.
Geochemical evidence Chip sample from American Fluorspar Deposit contained 47% fluorite and < 0.1% barite.
Geophysical evidence Unknown.
Evidence from other sources Anomalous fluorite in panned stream sediment (Richter and others, 1983).
Comments Only fluorite and W were produced from the Bound Ranch district. A few of the deposits were worked for Au, but the Au content was too low for continued mining (McLemore and others, 1996).
Cover thickness and description Variable.
Authors Virginia T. McLemore.
