Information leading to the delineation of this focus area

Basis for focus area Outline of Goldstrike district from Krahulec (2018b) that includes the Lejaiv mine group.
Identified resources Indicated resources for gold. Historical production of antimony and gold.
Production Gold valued at $235,000,000 (Krahulec, 2018b).
Status Past mining and active exploration for Au-Ag.
Estimated resources Indicated resource of 865,000 oz Au at an average grade of 0.54 g/t Au (49,533,000 t); Inferred resource of 274,000 oz Au at an average grade of 0.52 g/t Au (16,443,000 t) (Rowe and others, 2018).
Geologic maps Biek and others (2010), scale 1:100,000; Hintze and others (1994), scale 1:24,000.
Geophysical data Inadequate Rank 4 aeromagnetic coverage.
Favorable rocks and structures Paleocene-Eocene sandstone, conglomerate, limestone, and tuff of the Claron Formation is the main host with structurally controlled mineralization in underlying Paleozoic units, such as Pakoon Dolomite.
Deposits Goldstrike (Au, Ag) (MRDS dep_id: 10155445); Lejaiv mine (Sb) (MRDS dep_id: 10011003).
Evidence from mineral occurrences MRDS; UMOS (Utah Geological Survey, 2021).
Geochemical evidence Visible arsenic minerals (scapolite, orpiment, realgar) at multiple outcrops in the mining district.
Geophysical evidence Unknown.
Evidence from other sources Krahulec (2018b), Mills and Rupke (2020); Rowe and others (2018).
Comments Goldstrike is currently being redeveloped for mining by Liberty Gold and is part of the northeast-southwest trending Iron Axis, the only Au occurrence known to occur in the axis. Its proximity to Miocene laccoliths and the lack of understanding around the feeder system and deportment of Au provide excellent deposit scale research opportunities, and there is visible As mineralization in several outcrops of the district.
Cover thickness and description No cover.
Authors Albert H. Hofstra.
New data needs Aeromagnetic and aeroradiometric surveys; existing 1:24,000 mapping digitized.
Geologic mapping and modeling needs Map digitization.
Geophysical survey and modeling needs None requested at this time.
Digital elevation data needs Lidar in progress.
