Information leading to the delineation of this focus area

Basis for focus area 10 km buffer on zunyite occurrence in small lithocap deposit with Al, K2SO4, H2SO4, ± Ga in alunite (zunyite) (latitude 41.3685, longitude -116.6526).
Identified resources Historical production of silver.
Production Unknown.
Status Past mining; gold exploration ~2005-2007.
Estimated resources Unknown.
Geologic maps Coats (1987), scale 1:250,000; Stewart and Carlson (1976), scale 1:250,000.
Geophysical data Inadequate aeromagnetic and aeroradiometric coverage.
Favorable rocks and structures Eocene diorite that is variably brecciated and hydrothermally altered (Cantor, 2012).
Deposits Zunyite lode (MRDS dep_id: 10221546).
Evidence from mineral occurrences MRDS; Cantor (2012).
Geochemical evidence Anomalously high Bi, Te, In, and Mo reported in a soil survey. Fluorine is enriched in zones of advanced argillic alteration (Cantor, 2012).
Geophysical evidence Unknown.
Evidence from other sources Unknown.
Comments Molybdenum-F soil anomaly associated with Eocene intrusion. Molybdenite observed in some drillholes and potassic alteration suggest potential for a porphyry Mo deposit beneath the advanced argillic alteration. Enrichment of Sb, As, Ge, Mn, and Zn inferred from the mineral system/deposit type table (Hofstra and Kreiner, 2020).
Cover thickness and description Mostly surficial, but drillhole evidence indicates the argillic cap is underlain by a porphyry-type system (Cantor, 2012).
