Comments | Named as a member of the Seboomook formation after Camera Hill, southwest part of Spencer Lake 15-min quad, Somerset Co., ME. Type section is on Camera Hill. Consists of dark-green, gray- to rusty-brown-weathering felsite with scattered feldspar phenocrysts and some vesicles near the base. Thickness ranges from 0 to 400 ft. Member occurs as discrete, probably conformable bodies within the Seboomook formation; contacts were not observed. Age is Devonian (Oriskany) because it lies above faunule of Oriskany age in the Seboomook formation. (ME003) Unit description from USGS GEOLEX website (ME078). GS - Greenschist facies; Protolith V - Basaltic volcanic rocks. |
