Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Greenschist and amphibolite of pre-Triassic age occur on the north flank of a Jurassic(?) granodiorite to biotite-quartz diorite intrusion that, based on an airborne survey, underlies the Meier Lake area (Rose and Saunders (1965, figs. 1 and 3). Gabbro and diorite underlie the area north of greenschist and amphibolite. Magnetite containing small amounts of chalcopyrite occurs in greenschist and sheared diorite. Magnetite forms lenticular veinlets as much as 1 inch thick Chalcopyrite also occurs in a Jurassic(?) granodiorite on nearby Hogan Hill (GU007 and GU008).
  • Age = Probably Jurassic, formed in contact zones of a Jurassic granodiorite to biotite-quartz diorite intrusion.
