Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Crane Creek is a tributary of Fairbanks Creek and is underlain by quartz muscovite schist, quartzite, and chlorite quartzose schist (Newberry and others, 1996). About 1,765 ounces of gold was produced in 1908 which assayed at 822 fine (Prindle and Katz, 1913). Recent field observation of Crane Creek indicates that more recent mining has taken place in the lower section of the creek, probably in the 1980's (J. Schaefer, field observation, 1999).
