Comments on the geologic information

  • POROUS QUARTZ BRECCIA LOOKED LIKE A WEATHERED QUARTZITE CONTAINING ANGULAR QUARTZ PEBBLES. GOLD NOT PRESENT EAST OF DUNCAN CREEK, THIS FACT, PLUS BRECCIA IN GRAVEL, SUGGESTS A NORTHEASTWARD-TRENDING FAULT ZONE HERE. ; MAJOR.UNITS: BEDROCK IS SCHIST NEAR MOUTH OF CREEK. ; REG.COM: PLACER DEPOSITS PROBABLY CLOSE TO LODE SOURCE.

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit GOLD LIES MOSTLY IN BEDROCK, OF WHICH 2 FEET MUST BE TAKEN UP TO RECOVER GOLD. PAY STREAK IN AN OLD CHANNEL ON THE SE SIDE OF THE CREEK, BUT CLOSE TO IT. UPSTREAM, THE PAY STREAK SWINGS TO THE NW SIDE OF THE CREEK, THEREFORE, THE OLD CHANNEL BEARS NO CLOSE RELATION TO THE PRESENT COURSE OF DUNCAN CREEK. GRAVELS ARE 2-5 FEET THICK AND UNDERLIE 40-50 FEET OF MUCK.
Deposit STREAM GRADIENT APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET PER MILE IN LOWER MILE OF CREEK. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT
