Comments on the geologic information

  • MINOR BASIN DEVELOPMENT; MINOR BASIN DEVELOPMENT; CHROMITE + ORTHOPYROXENE + PLAGIOCLASE; LAURITE + COOPERITE + BRAGGITE + PT-IR-RH-CU-SULPHIDE + PT-PB-CU-SULPHIDE + PT-FE-ALLOY + PD-CU-ALLOY + PD-PB-ALLOY + PD-HG-ALLOY; PENTLANDITE + CHALCOPYRITE + PYRRHOTITE + PYRITE; DIP 5 DEGREES TO 70 DEGREES TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE BUSHVELD COMPLEX; AVERAGE THICKNESS 0.6 TO 2.20 M; UG2 CHROMITITE LAYER OCCURS 145 TO 370 M BELOW THE MERENSKY REEF.
  • INTENSE FOLDING, FAULTING, METAMORPHISM AND MOBILIZATION OF SULPHIDE.; EPROT; RB/SR: 1.7-1.8 GA; PYTT + PNLD + PYRT + CLCP. NO INFORMATION ON PLATINUM GROUP MINERALS.; THE OREBODY COMPRISES AN IRREGULAR, MORE OR LESS CONTINUOUS SHEET OF SULPHIDE WITHIN THE FOLDED, CONFORMABLE BIOTITE SCHIST UNIT. THE SULPHIDES FORM MASSES AND VEINLETS IN THE SCHIST, AND TOGETHER WITH QUARTZ, PLAGIOCLASE, AND BIOTITE, CONSTITUTE A MATRIX FOR SMALL TO LARGE INCLUSIONS OF SCHIST, PEGMATITE, AND SERPENTINIZED AND MINERALIZED PERIDOTITE. THIS DEPOSIT APPEARS TO BE THE MOST INTENSELY DEFORMED AND METAMORPHOSED OF THE THOMPSON BELT NICKEL DEPOSITS.
