Comments on the geologic information

  • ORE WAS PRIMARILY MINED FROM BOTH ENDS OF THE SOUTHERN SHEAR ZONE; VEIN WALLS ACCOMPANIED BY GANGUE OR GOUGE OF RHYOLITE WALL ROCK; SECONDARY ENRICHMENT ALONG FISSURES IS BELIEVED TO HAVE OCCURRED FROM BELOW THE ORE DEPOSITS; MANGANESE CONTENT INCREASES WITH DEPTH (TO DEPTHS OF 30-60 FT), THEN RAPIDLY DECREASES

Deposit TWO SHEAR ZONES, 1500 FT APART, WHICH CUT THE BASALT AND PERHAPS THE RHYOLITE, BUT NO ORE HAS BEEN FOUND IN THE RHYOLITE. NORTH SHEAR ZONE, N70W, DIPS STEEPLY SOUTH, IS 1500 FT LONG, THE SOUTH SHEAR ZONE STRIKES N55-80W AND DIPS 70 NE. THE MINERALIZED LENGTH OF THIS ZONE IS 2000 FT, AND IS 10 FT WIDE. VEINS REACH MAXIMUM WIDTH OF 14 INCHES
Deposit SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED WITH THE HARDY SHAFT AND HARDY GROUP ON THE ASH PEAK AND ASH PEAK EXTENSION PROPERTIES (HARDY GROUP ORIGINALLY PART OF THURSTON AND HARDY CLAIMS BUT WERE LATER TAKEN OVER BY ASH PEAK EXTENSION MINING CO); SEE ALSO: A-1 CLAIMS ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT
