Comments on development

  • 300-350 TONS OF 1.7% WO3 ORE AND 1000-1300 TONS OF 0.5% WO3 ORE ESTIMATED PRESENT IN 1946, AS WELL AS 6000 TO 12,000 TONS OF 0.3% WO3 ORE POSSIBLE. IN 1943, THE PROPERTY WAS OWNED BY JOHN ETCHERT, JR., AND W. M. PETTIT, AND LEASED TO JOHN H. HARDEN OF WINNEMUC-CA. WORKINGS CONSISTED OF NUMEROUS TRENCHES, OPEN CUTS AND 2 S-HORT ADITS, BUT ACCESS TO THE PROPERTY WAS DIFFICULT. IN 1955,- THE PROPERTY WAS ACQUIRED BY GETCHELL MINES AND A ROAD WAS CO-NSTRUCTED UP GRANITE CREEK FROM THE GRANITE CREEK MINE, REPLAC-ING THE 2.5 TO 3 MILES OF ROUGH TRAIL. OPEN-PIT MINING IN 1955- AND 1956 YIELDED 21300 TONS OF ORE THAT WERE TRUCKED TO THE G-ETCHELL MILL. 5 UNPATENTED CLAIMS.

Deposit THE PROPERTY WAS EXPLORED PRIOR TO 1955, BUT NO MINING WAS DONE UNTIL ROAD HAD BEEN BUILT TO IT FROM THE GRANITE CREEK MINE IN 1955, WHEN OPEN-PIT MINING BEGAN. IT CONSISTS OF FIVE UNPATENTED CLAIMS. WORKINGS INCLUDE 2 SHORT ADITS, TRENCHES, AND OPEN CUTS. 300-350 TONS OF 1.7% WO3 ORE AND 1000 TO 1300 TON S OF 0.5% WO3 ORE WERE ESTIMATED TO BE PRESENT IN 1946, AS WELL AS 6000 TO 12,000 TONS OF 0.3% WO3 OR LESS ORE POSSIBLE ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT
Deposit THE DEPOSIT IS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE SOUTH PART OF THE GRANODIORITE STOCK NEAR THE CREST OF THE RANGE. THE CONTA-CT ZONE BETWEEN THE STOCK AND THE SEDIMENTARY ROCKS IS HIGHLY -IRREGULAR. SLIDE ROCK COVERS MUCH OF THE SURFACE IN THE VICINI-TY OF THE MINE AND EXPOSURES ARE POOR. SMALL AND DISCONTINUOUS- TACTITE BODIES OCCUR WHERE THE THIN LIMESTONE BEDS, IN ARGILL-ITE AND HORNFELS, ARE TRUNCATED BY THE GRANODIORITE STOCK OR B-Y IRREGULAR APOPHYSES. THE TACTITE BODIES MINED WERE FROM A FE-W FEET TO 25 FEET WIDE AND PROBABLY AVERAGED ABOUT 20 FT. THE -TUNGSTEN CONTENT RANGED FROM 0.1 % WO3 TO 3.34 % BUT PROBABLY -AVERAGED ABOUT 0.5 % WO3. WORKINGS EXTEND ALONG 1200 FT STRIKE
