- DEPOSIT OCCURS IN A MASS OF ULTRAMAFIC ROCKS THAT HAVE INTRUDED PALEOZOIC METAMORPHICS OF THE CULAVERAS GROUP. A THICK (UP TO 10 FT) MANTLE OF RESIDUAL SOIL COVERS THE CHROMITE BEARING SERPENTINES.
