BULL 940-J - COBALT INFORMATION RECORD 040/ PROPERTY IS ABOUT 20 MILES FROM LEXINGTON, VA., 2 MILES OF STEELES TAVERN AND VESUVIUS, AND IS WITHIN THE GE WASHINGTON NATIONAL FOREST. RECORD 050/ MN-ORE DISCOVERED DURING A SEARCH FOR IRON ORE. PROPERTY WAS SAMPLED BY PIERCE (1943) RECORD 060/ SANDSTONE IS BRECCIATED. RECORD 070/ COBALT IS ADSORBED ON CRYPTOMELANE AND WAS DEPO BY GROUND WATER. A SAMPLE CONTAINED 0.40% CO. REC 080 ORE OCCURS AS FILLINGS AND REPLACEMENTS IN A BRECCI ZONE OF QTZITE. THE WALL QTZITE IS MASSIVE, STRIKES N 70 E A 45 DEG N. THE ORE ZONE IS 4 FT THICK AT TUNNEL ENTRANCE, 1. THICK AT THE FACE, AND 7 FT THICK AT THE TOP OF THE CLIFF.
