Comments on the production information

  • OUTPUT GRADE AND RECOVERY IS BASED ON REYNOLDS MILL.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • THE PROPERTY WAS REVIEWED 1-93, AND AT THIS TIME, THERE IS NO MINING. ALSO, THE REYNOLDS PLANT WHICH THIS PROPERTY FED HAS BEEN DISMANTLED. SOME RESERVES COULD BE AVAILABLE, HOWEVER.
  • RESERVES ARE NOT INCREASED AT LOWER PROBABILITY LEVELS BECAUSE IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT THE AMOUNT OF ORE IS CONTROLLED BY LAND HOLDINGS

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit BAUXITE ORE IS MINED FROM THE QUAPAW MINE AND TRUCKED TO THE REYNOLDS MILL. MILLING AT REYNOLDS IS PROPOSED BECAUSE IT WOULD BE UNECONOMIC TO BUILD A MILL FOR SUCH A SMALL DEPOSIT THIS SYSTEM IS PROPOSED IN ORDER TO CONFORM WITH ASSUMPTIONS MADE FOR THIS ALUMINUM STUDY OF ARKANSAS BAUXITES. THE PRIMARY ASSUMPTION IS THAT ALL BAUXITE ORE WILL BE PROCESSED INTO METALLURGICAL GRADE ALUMINA. IT IS FURTHER ASSUMED THAT THE REYNOLDS MILL CAN HANDLE THE ADDITIONAL TONNAGE WITHOUT A MILL EXPANSION. THE TRANSPORTATION OF ORE TO THE REYNOLDS MILL IS BASED ON THE CLOSE PROXIMITY OF THE QUAPAW MINE TO THE MILL. QUAPAW MINE OPERATES 260 DAYS PER YEAR AT 368 MT ORE PER DAY THE REYNOLDS MILL OPERATES 350 DAYS PER YEAR SO QUAPAW ORE FEED WAS ADJUSTED TO AN AVERAGE FEED AT 350 DAYS PER YEAR. THE ORE FEED WILL BE 273.4 MT ORE PER DAY. PROPERTY REVIEWED BY RC SMITH, 4-87. I TALKED TO JIM PHILLIPS - PLANT MANAGER. SINCE MAY 1985, THEY HAVE BEEN OPERATING AT 40 PCT CAPACITY, USUALLY 10 DAYS ON AND 2-3 WEEKS OFF. PRODUCTION FOR 1984-1986 WAS ABOUT 100,000 ST. PRODUCTION IN 1987 IS 4,000 ST FOR FEB. AND 4,000 ST FOR MARCH. MAY SHUT DOWN AT THE END OF 1987 BECAUSE OF BUDGET CONSTRAINTS.
