Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = A 60-foot shaft was sunk on a quartz vein carrying considerable stibnite and disseminated sulfides (Smith, 1913 [B 525, p. 208]). The quartz is fine-grained, granular, and has a grayish color; visible gold was reported to be fairly common. Bedrock in the area was mapped as biotite schist of the Muskox sequence by Newberry and others (1996). Thomas (1947) reported that approximately 1,500 feet of surface trenching has been done on the property but that no veins or mineralized zones were discovered. They did discover four flat-lying faults in mica schist. These faults were filled with white talc gouge. All underground workings on the property are caved and inaccessible.
