Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = The country rocks at the Alaska Jupiter prospect include Upper Jurassic to Upper Triassic crystal tuff, argillite, graywacke and chert, and Upper Cretaceous (?) porphyry dikes. The rocks are cut by the Chulitna fault. The deposit is along the fault, and consists of quartz-arsenopyrite veins that cut both the bedded and intrusive rocks. Samples contain gold near the 5 ppb detection limits of the analysis (Balen, 1990: OFR 34-90).
  • Age = Probably Late Cretaceous or younger.
