Relative position The Mohawk lode prospect is on the west flank of Banner Peak at an elevation of about 400 feet. The map location is at the southeast corner of section 34, T. 10 S., R. 34 W., Kateel River Meridian. The prospect is locality 10 of Hummel (1962 [MF 247]); the location is probably accurate to within 500 feet.

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = The country rock at the Mohawk prospect is mainly graphitic schist and graphitic quartzite (Bundtzen and others, 1994). Shallow pits expose schist containing disseminated pyrite, arsenopyrite, and possibly pyrrhotite.
  • Age = Mid-Cretaceous or younger; superimposed on schist metamorphosed during the mid-Cretaceous.
