Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = A bench deposit along lower Chickamin Gulch contains fine, bright gold in sand (with some pebbles) that overlies solution-pitted marble (Smith, 1909). The sand is overlain by angular debris, possibly colluvium. Bedrock in the area is part of a lower Paleozic metasedimentary assemblage (Till and others, 1986).
  • Age = Quaternary.
